My name is Anita Patel

I am a Teacher at St Francis de Sales School.

I have been teaching for 14 years and have had the privilege of working at three other schools: Randwick School in Moera, Karori Normal School, and Brooklyn School. Along the way, I’ve met many wonderful students and whānau, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all as well.

Next year, I’ll be working with the Year 7 & 8 tamariki, teaching numeracy and literacy, as well as physical education across the school. I’m passionate about weaving culturally responsive practices into my teaching and look forward to incorporating this into my lessons. After 14 years of having my own classroom, I’ve decided to take a new path in my career to better balance my professional life with my young family.

My family originally comes from Gujarat, India, and I was born and raised in Wellington. In my spare time, I enjoy playing hockey, running, walking, eating, and spending time with my family—especially my two children, Jiya and Mahin.
