Starting School 

Starting school is an exciting milestone, and it is natural for children and their families to experience a period of adjustment. School life differs in many ways from the preschool environment, and every child adapts to these changes at their own pace.

At St Francis de Sales School, we recognise that each child is unique. Some children settle quickly into new routines, while others may need additional time and support. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential in helping every child feel confident, secure, and ready to learn.

Our staff are committed to working closely with parents and whānau to support each child’s individual needs during this important transition. The New Entrant Information Booklet provides helpful information to guide you and your child as you begin your journey with our school community.

Please feel free to come and discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you have - likewise we encourage you, if at all possible to become involved in your child’s learning in a positive way, for example, by helping in the classroom or with class trips.
