Parent School Link (PSL) at St Francis de Sales School
Who organises the legendary St Francis de Sales School fair? Who pulls together the music, treats, and photo booth for the school discos? Who sizzles the sausages on special school days? Who organises parents' movie nights, quiz nights and the Easter raffle? And who makes sure families under stress are looked after?
The St Francis de Sales Parent School Link (PSL) is a group of parents and caregivers who get behind the school and its families by raising money, holding popular social events, and helping families through tough times.
From the artificial turf at the top of the school, to play-mats for the junior classes, the PSL fund-raises to buy things that support fun and learning at St Francis de Sales School.
Over the past few years the PSL has raised many thousands of dollars to buy chrome books, IPADs, robotics equipment, and modern learning space furniture for the classrooms. Outside, the PSL has raised money for water fountains, netball hoops and is helping to beautify the school by re-doing the concrete markings and developing the school gardens.
The PSL includes a representative from the teaching staff, and works with the Principal and the Board to provide what's needed for the students.
On the social agenda, parents and care-givers are in for a great night out when the PSL organises events such as a movie night, a clothes swap, a themed party or the annual quiz night.
In our pastoral care role, we help school families with meals and other support during difficult events in their lives.

The PSL meets in the school staffroom at 7:30pm on the first Monday or Tuesday of the month. Meetings are short and friendly and we welcome new ideas and new members.
Don't worry if you're not mad on meetings - we would be glad to hear from you when we call for volunteers for specific events. Keep an eye on the school newsletter and you'll sometimes see the PSL asking for help to, for example, run a disco or gather prizes for a raffle.
Our AGM is being held on Monday, 13th April 2019 at 7:30pm in Room 9. We welcome nominations to all positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
We're also looking for a new Grants Coordinator. This involves making regular funding applications to trusts and foundations for items on the school's wish list, and completing the accountability reports once the grant has been spent. The Coordinator will work closely with the PSL and school staff. The current Grants Coordinator is happy to guide and work alongside a new coordinator.
We welcome new committee members - junior parents don't be shy! This is a great way to get involved in your children's school.
